I can help you answer all of these questions:
- "Is graduate school is right for me?"
- "What are the different types of programs?"
- "How do I determine which universities to apply to?"
- "What are admissions committees looking for ?"
- "How do I best strengthen my application packet?"
- "Where do I begin?"
If & Why: Through deep discussion about your values, personal narratives, and goals I will help you discover if graduate school makes the most sense for you. Graduate school is a huge investment of time and resources; knowing before you begin that the investment will bring a good return for your future is vital.
Where & When: If you decide that you are destined for graduate school, the process then turns to mapping the terrain of possible programs and admissions cycles. Sometimes applying fast makes the most sense, but sometimes preparing for a year will land you a better placement.
Who & What: Within programs there are individual faculty, program emphases, research specialties, theory orientations, institutes, and special funding opportunities. All that to say, once we have narrowed down your short list, it is time to figure out the best strategies to approach each program.
How: This is the nuts and bolts of putting together the best application packet possible. There may be test-prep necessary (e.g., GRE, LSAT, MCAT). Excellent letters of recommendation take careful curating. Polished writing samples and personal statements communicate your capability. A strong CV or academic resume of relevant experiences must be assembled to exceed admissions committees expectations. Often these need boosted with quick (but real) experiences. I will show you how.
